Distance education on coffee growing as a technical support for small Haitian producers

Using distance education, small Haitian producers will receive advanced training in coffee growing and its techniques, dispensed in Creole on the plantations, via satellite installations and, soon, via high speed networks (of WIMAX, CDMA EVDO or DVB-H type). Malongo asked the Centre for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD) in Montpellier, to devise the entire content of the 9 teaching modules, each lasting 30 minutes, while the formatting of the distance training is done by the State University of Haiti (which provides the translation into Creole). The aim is to be able to deliver these training courses to 500 growers in the first year.
